Elements of Governance for Friends Organizations
Webinar Description
The webinar starts with a refresher on the defining attributes of a Friends organization associated with a national refuge or fishery, emphasizing the importance of critical documents. It then reviews fiduciary responsibilities as a nonprofit board member, focusing on fundamental duties and legal liability. The webinar will conclude with an overview of internal controls, followed by a Q&A session.

Presenter
Willem Stoeller brings decades of expertise to our upcoming Refuge Friends Webinar. With a Drs Cum Laude in Theoretical Chemistry and Applied Mathematics, and a Project Management Professional certification, Willem has held senior management and vice-presidential roles in the software and IT industries. Since 2011, he has worked as an independent consultant and educator.
An avid volunteer, Willem has served nine years on various non-profit boards, including as treasurer of the Friends board from 2015 to 2022. Currently, he chairs the Governance Committee and participates in multiple other committees, demonstrating his commitment to leadership and governance in the non-profit sector. We are excited to welcome Willem and his wealth of knowledge to our webinar.
