ABOUT CORFA


The Coalition of Refuge Friends and Advocates (CORFA) is a nonprofit organization whose mission is to foster a network of nonprofit organizations that support each other, the National Wildlife Refuge System, and the National Fish Hatchery System. CORFA builds networks across Friends groups to promote resource sharing, collaboration, and community, while providing direct support and resources to empower Friends to achieve their nonprofit goals. CORFA also champions advocacy efforts in collaboration with the National Wildlife Refuge Association (NWRA).

POSITION OVERVIEW


CORFA seeks a reliable, tech-savvy Administrative Assistant to provide part-time remote support across webinar coordination, website management, communications, and general administration. This independent contractor role averages approximately 35 hours per month. The successful candidate will be a self-starter who is comfortable working remotely and learning new tools, and who cares about the mission of supporting Friends groups that support national wildlife refuges and hatcheries. The candidate will work with directors and volunteers appointed by the board who are leading various work groups. 

KEY DELIVERABLES


Webinar Management

  • Coordinate all logistics for CORFA webinars, including:
    • Set up Zoom webinar sessions
    • Create and send invitations
    • Build and manage the registration process
    • Send RSVPs and reminder emails to registrants
    • Provide tech support during live webinars
    • Upload recordings to YouTube
    • Send follow-up emails to participants
    • Add materials to the Resource Center and Facebook
    • Add new participants to the customer relationship management (CRM)

Friends SHARE Meeting Coordination

  • Manage all logistics for the monthly Friends SHARE calls, including:
    • Set up Zoom calls
    • Format and send invitations
    • Manage the registration process
    • Send RSVPs and reminders
    • Provide tech support during calls
    • Send follow-up emails to participants
    • Add new participants to the customer relationship management (CRM)

Website & Resource Center

  • Update and maintain CORFA website content as requested
  • Add new materials and resources to the online Resource Center as requested
  • Review and update older links and materials to ensure accuracy as requested

Communications

  • Add content and posts to CORFA’s Facebook page and group
  • Post announcements for upcoming webinars and SHARE meetings
  • Assist in the creation and distribution of the CORFA online newsletter
  • Assist with the preparation of the Annual Report
  • Assist with the creation of the Quarterly Report submitted to NWRA
  • Add new contacts and member information to the customer relationship management (CRM)
  • Schedule meetings via Zoom as requested

QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS


Required

  • Effective English communication skills
  • Proficiency with Google, including Google Sheets and Google Drive
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, etc.)
  • Experience with Zoom, including webinar and meeting setup and management
  • Willingness and ability to learn new technologies
  • Ability to work independently in a fully remote environment
  • Must be based in North America; if USA-based, must be legally authorized to work

Preferred

  • Experience with nonprofits in the conservation or environmental sector
  • Familiarity with AI tools such as ChatGPT or Claude
  • Experience with contact/member database management
  • Experience managing social media platforms, particularly Facebook
  • Experience with website content management (e.g., WordPress)
  • Familiarity with YouTube video uploading and management

CONTRACTOR TERMS


This is an independent contractor position. The contractor will be responsible for all applicable self-employment taxes and is not eligible for employee benefits. Compensation is competitive and commensurate with experience; details will be discussed with finalists.

  • Approximately 35 hours per month; hours may vary based on events and organizational needs
  • Flexible remote schedule; some availability during weekday business hours preferred for live meetings and events
  • Must provide: Equipment – phone, computer, internet access, office software
