About Suzanne Trapp

Suzanne Trapp has worked for the U.S.Fish and Wildlife Refuge connecting teachers, students and families to the outdoors through environmental education and community engagement. Starting as an Outdoor Recreation Planner in the Midwest Regional Office, she soon transferred to Minnesota Valley National Wildlife Refuge.

Suzanne was the 2010 Midwest Region recipient of the Rachael Carson Sense of Wonder Award for developing the Partner School and Partner Teacher programs designed as a standard-based, educational partnerships between K-6 grade students, teachers and school districts to their local wildlife refuge.

After transitioning through various Visitor Services leadership positions, she retired in 2023 after 5-years as the refuge’s first Community Outreach Manager. She remains engaged with the Refuge as an active volunteer and is just beginning her role as Board Member and Vice-President of the Minnesota Valley Refuge Friends.

Suzanne splits her time between Prior Lake and Grand Marais, Minnesota with her husband Paul, their two dogs and cat. She has two adult sons and is looking forward to the role of grandmother in 2026. She loves paddling, hiking, biking and scuba diving. She has learned to enjoy snowshoeing and nordic skiing despite having grown up in Florida!
