Polly Sheppard

Director at Large

Polly Sheppard has worked for nonprofit organizations her entire career.  Almost retired, she continues to work with a few clients through her own consulting practice.  Also a volunteer, she volunteers on several nonprofit boards and committees, both in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan where she moved in 2022 and in the greater southeast Michigan area.  Since moving to the UP, Polly has been active with the Friends of Seney National Wildlife Refuge.

Polly received her undergraduate degree from Alma College in sociology and her Master’s in Public Health from the University of Michigan.  She spent 20 years in various executive roles in hospitals and health care organizations. With the arrival of her first daughter, she began working as an independent contractor, striving for that elusive work/life balance.  Her consulting focused on health, social justice and the arts helping groups establish nonprofits and helping existing nonprofits thrive.

Polly is married to her husband, Bill, a family physician.   They have two adult children and live in Naubinway, MI.
