The National Wildlife Refuge System needs us now more than ever. CORFA believes that a strong Refuge System starts with strong Friends.
By participating in the For Wildlife, For You Birthday Fundraiser you can raise awareness in your community, fundraise for your local refuge, and join a national movement to ensure refuges thrive. It’s like ‘Giving Tuesday’ for refuges!

The National Wildlife Refuge System is chronically underfunded, but Friends help fill that gap. The core idea behind the For Wildlife, For You campaign is to help Friends raise funds for their work!

Now more than ever, we must show the value of National Wildlife Refuges. For Wildlife, For You aims to get the message front and center – refuges are for wildlife and for you!

Every refuge benefits from a stronger, more resilient NWR system. And no one is more equipped to speak to local communities than Friends Groups.

Join Friends Groups from around the country who are participating in our campaign! Share resources, ask questions, and brainstorm together. When Friends help Friends, it saves us all a little time and energy!
What will this look like?
A Customizable Toolkit
- Easy-to-edit social media graphics (just add your logo!).
- Email campaign templates to engage your supporters and donors.
- Step-by-step guides and resources for planning your campaign and using the toolkit.
A Network of Support
- Collaborate with other Friends Groups participating in the campaign.
- Attend (optional) weekly group meetings on topics like campaign planning, donor engagement, and using the toolkit.
- Join open office hours for personalized help and ideas from the CORFA team.
Flexibility to Fit Your Goals
- Use as much or as little of the toolkit as you want.
- Whether you customize everything or just use our ready-made resources, this campaign is designed to be simple, adaptable, and impactful.
Your Donors, Your Donations, Your Control
- You keep 100% of the funds you raise. Donations flow directly through your existing donation system, ensuring you have complete control over the process.
- You own the donor relationships. From pre-campaign outreach to post-donation thank-yous, you connect directly with your supporters.
- You’re in charge. CORFA wants to provide the tools, resources, and support you need to make your campaign a success — while you maintain full ownership of your fundraising and donor engagement. “For Wildlife, For You” is your campaign.
Timeline: 2 Options
Option 1:
Asynchronous Campaign
Use our toolkit to plan your own asynchronous two week fundraiser! The Birthday Fundraiser is easy to modify for your Refuge/Hatchery birthday or your Friends Group’s birthday. You will still have full access to the toolkit and can join the group to connect with other Friends who have participated in the fundraiser, but you’ll be able to fit the campaign into your group’s schedule.
Option 2:
Follow Along with Other Groups
If the National Wildlife Refuge System birthday (March 14) is a convenient time for your group to fundraise, you can time your birthday fundraiser to coincide with other groups. This has the added benefit of having access to office hours and live planning events with other Friends Groups at the same time they are planning their campaigns.

Campaign Planning Starts
Group + Toolkit Open
On February 1st, we'll launch the Toolkit and the private group. You'll be able to find both right here on the CORFA website! This will kick off a month of planning (editing the toolkit to fit your needs, planning how to engage your donors, and designing your customized campaign).

Public-Facing Campaign Starts
Your Campaign Goes Live
On March 1st, you'll kickoff your campaign! With all of the resources organized and ready to go, you can focus on trying to reach as many potential donors as possible.

The Birthday of the NWRS
Last Day of Campaign
The 14 day campaign and fundraiser builds up to the birthday of the National Wildlife Refuge System on March 14th. While you are welcome to extend your campaign, we think there is no better way to end than with a birthday celebration!
